How to set Windows 10 with Assigned Access in Kiosk Mode


Kiosk Mode Windows 10: Kiosk mode is a tremendous feature that allows Microsoft Windows to provide customers marking as visitors or non-specific authorized customers with a stand-alone application while counteracting access to various data, details, and usefulness of the working system and PC. 

Kiosk mode allows the running of only one program. Users will not access any services or software other than those to which they are assigned. Kiosk mode is designed to protect Windows applications from all users by allowing a single user to access a particular application.

Whenever a user logs in, only their specific program can be accessed. He/she can't even say how many programs like the one they're running are there. Kiosk mode is useful for restaurants, POS (Point of Sale). We may give workers a specific part of the program. For example, when we open a restaurant, we're going to have different workers with different tasks. We may render only a billing screen available to the cashier. Each time a cashier logs in to the system, only Billing Screen can be accessed. Let's assume your friends and colleagues want to use email facilities, then you can create a guest account that only redirects to outlook or email services whenever a guest is logged in, so you can keep your other data secure.

How to set up kiosk mode for Windows 10

Now we're going to see how we can set up Windows 10 Kiosk mode. We have to make certain registry changes. We need to update the list carefully.

Step 1: Press Start and go to Run

Step 2: Type Regedit and select OK

Step 3: Now go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE — Computer — Microsoft — Windows NT — CurrentVersion — Winlogon and search the registry.

Step 4: Double-click "DefaultUserName" to enter the username you want to sign in automatically.

Step 5: Double-click on DefaultPassword entry, type a user account password that you want to log in

Step 6: If the DefaultPassword entry is not available. Go to Edit — New — String value. Title it as DefaultPassword and press In. 

Step 7: Double-click the entry and type the user account key in which you want to sign in. Tap OK now

Step 8: Double-click AutoAdminLogon and enter ' 1 ' and then click OK in the value information

Step 9: Follow Step 6 if you don't see AutoAdminLogon.

Step 10: Go to File — Close the Registry Editor and Exit

If you want a user account specific to install into kiosk mode then follow these steps

Step 1: Press Start and go to Run

Step 2: Type Regedit and select OK

Step 3: Now go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE — Computer — Microsoft — Windows NT — CurrentVersion — Winlogon and search the registry.

Step 4: Go to Edit — > New — > Value string and mark it as a shell

Step 5: Double-click the newly generated request and add the value as the direction you want to run. For example, c:\my application;
