It's not unusual for software, particularly older apps, to have bugs or even stop working completely with Windows 10. However, there is one possible workaround for show-stopping bugs: right-click on the app's icon and select Properties, then click on the Compatibility tab.
From here, check the box next to 'Run this program in compatibility mode for,' and then select the version of Windows that the program worked fine on from the drop-down menu beneath it.
Many developers will update their apps to remove bugs over time, so the software in question may eventually work perfectly with Windows 10. A simple way to assist them is to report any bugs you find, which can usually be done through the developer's website. This draws attention to the problem, allowing them to (hopefully) work on a solution.
